Anora watched him while he seemed to be thinking about how to react. She wasn't that good at reading other people, but it seemed as though she had troubled him a little with her words. Maybe she had made him think of something that he didn't want to think about. She thought to apologize whenever he said something after all.
Still, his face looked distant and she looked back down towards her apple, wiping her mouth a little on the corners to get any whipped cream that was still there. Anora smiled warmly at him, deciding to try and let it go for now while she focused on his question.
"Oh yes, my family and I had a lot of fun together. My mom had a little flower shop which I run today and my dad was a professional duelist. Usually my dad was off at tournaments, but sometimes my mom and I would go along with him..... my mom always said that we should still be polite and nice so manors were her thing."

”Oh! A Flower Shop! My mother had one. It was also our apartment!”
His statement phrased like a joke that would place a smile on anyone's face as he made a small laugh in the process even thinking about the idea.
He had smiled thinking about that fact, but suddenly he had realized something: that was so long ago. The said Flower Shop was a front for her true job. She was nothing more than a arcane Egyptian woman who had taken an interest years ago of Duel Monsters. She had vanished, and he knew why, but even so, it wasn’t enough to bring back his father who had walked out on them and simply supported his life style from the shadows. A sad story really. Seeing how things turned out, he rather not talk about it.
”Well…it was a really old one. The business was alright, but it was sort of strange waking up to the smell of flower petals in such a cool breath of air every morning. Not annoying…but strange, in a relaxing sort of way.”
He smiled as he let out another one of his pressed lip laughs that came out like a little giddy giggle. A usual mask for his despair every time he thought about he past. Now he was wondering what ever happened to that little Flower Shop from so many years ago. Was it nothing more than a relic now in the slums of the city? Now it just made him curious. Maybe he could ask Parfaye to take him after the day was over, but right now, his thoughts trailed back to not leaving his little story a mysterious cliffhanger.
”…anyway, your family sounds really grat! My mother is quite far now with her business. So I‘m alone working in the gardens within the city. It‘s really a nice place, and reminds me of that little apartment. There I can take care of the flowers that grow there freely and make a living in the process. It‘s almost like I‘m getting paid for my hobby.”
He had kept to himself as he dipped his fork to his plate. He divided a piece of his crepe and took a poke before dipping it cutely into his mouth as he seemed to perfect the opening of his lips to not show anymore of his teeth and tongue than necessary. It was just manners at their best, that's all it was.

"You know, it might be odd, though I think waking up to the smell of flowers is really wonderful"
Anora couldn't help smiling while she listened to his words. He was adorable whenever he started giggling, it wasn't so hard to picture the life that he spoke about. Her own flower shop was large and there was room above the shop for an apartment, but Anora hadn't done anything with it yet. There was a lot of work to be done at the shop and she just didn't have the time to fix up the space like she wished she could have.
"Your sound like you have a really nice life, with your sisters and being able to work from your hobby. I feel the same way getting to work at the flower shop. It's so peaceful and the scents of the flowers are very relaxing if you know which ones to keep around. Plus finding new flowers to bring back and grow yourself can be very exciting, though I imagine that taking care of a garden in the open can be troubling still since so many people can damage them out there."
Anora smiled at him, breaking off a little bit more of the top of the apple. She had sipped from the top enough to expose the apple so she wouldn't spill the cream. Looking up slightly, her eyes looked over at Xenneth and had a slightly distant happiness about them.
"My family was pretty great, but my mom and dad died last year in an accident. Still, they were really amazing people and very good at what they did. My dad taught me dueling and my mom owned the flower shop before it was passed into my care. It's why I love that shop so much, it reminds me of them."

He almost choked at that moment as he closed his eyes and stiffened a groan to swallow the food so it wouldn’t get tangled into his throat. He had motioned his right hand unto his chest as he pressed against it gently. Did he touch a subject that he shouldn’t? To his embarrassment, his face had lit red. It wasn’t from the feeling, but from the fact that he was lacking air right now that he needed and it was all because of a crepe. He had reached for the cup of milk as he lifted it nearly bottoms up as he took a drink until he felt the clog of food wash away.
The base of his glass touched down and he took a relaxing sigh of breath. It was so quick and out of a fast reaction that he didn’t even consider Anora that was in front of him as he frowned slightly.
”I-I‘m sorry. I didn‘t mean to bring up the subject of your family. I-I really didn‘t know.” he had said trying to excuse himself.
Listening to her all the way, he had felt suddenly ashamed of himself as it was clear on his face. He really didn’t want to plunge into memories, including the sad ones, but Anora seemed to cling to the happy ones. However so, looks could be deceiving. The fact that their past lives were so closely woven in similarities that he felt a strange connection to Anora at that moment wanting to apologize, for everything. He of all people would know the pain of losing his family and to vogue for his own in a flower shop like his own long ago.
The difference between the two?
He thought, probably knew, that Anora was stronger than he was. That made a big difference within itself, and on top of that, she had some good qualities that he didn’t: He was considered strange to be feminine. Herself, in his eyes, she was very beautiful. She was most likely popular and had friends in many places. He himself however, he lacked that many friends, but the few he made were honest and true. His sisters who were a send from his mother were odd, but their strength had made him stronger in many ways.
So many similarities, so many differences that connected them. Because of that, he had found a deep respect for Anora at that moment…even though he just literally choked.

Anora looked at Xenneth with more concern for him as he started about choking. She was surprised to see him reacting so, though she called herself a little whenever she saw that he was alright and could breath once more. She sat back a little, taking a sip from the milk in the apple to relax herself while he spoke. She was used to people thinking the worst things whenever she told them about her past.... sure it was hard to think about her family being gone, but she couldn't let herself dwell in sorrows.
"It's ok, I know that you didn't know. No one in this city really knows about it, my family lived a little ways away even though the flower shop is here. Some people asked what happened to my mother and father... and the people who work at the shop know about them, but not many others. My old friends found out, but I was so depressed before that I lost contact with them, and now I'm so busy just trying to support myself that I really haven't had time to mend those old friendships."
She looked up and him and smiled softly, this time the smile reached her eyes and she looked as though she really were happy. Anora kept her past close to her heart, but it was the happy memories that she truly held dear and remembered.
"Besides, no parents would want their children to always be unhappy right? Even if things are difficult you have to keep moving forward and living because that is what they would want for you."
Anora was glad to have Xenneth here to talk to. She liked his company and he was really sweet to be around. He did have a bit of a feminine look about him, and there were times whenever he seemed to be meek and quiet. Still, she enjoyed his company a great deal and couldn't have been happier to be within his company.

”Umm….right.”
It was a broken response. It was as if he had to process it before confirming it. When all was said with that, he had poked at his meal with his fork limply. His hand lifted as if life was returning back to it while he tilted his head affectionately as if leaning, comforted by Anora’s words. His lips couldn’t help but to stretch his smile from weak to strong as he contained that giggle that was difficult to hold. This once, he let it go freely, even if it was a slight one for a second.
I see… he had thought to himself before opening his eyes to stare towards Anora as she ate. She seemed happy. ”…I guess that‘s why.”
All in all, he made have lived for a while, his rest was long giving him so much time to think about the repetitive question “why?” of why all this was happening. He had made his own answers, traced them back and forward trying to figure it out like it was a formula. When all the formulas were done, he never figured out when he was done, why did he feel like there was something missing from the equation, like there was something missing that was most important. He raked at his crepe as he had saw there wasn’t much left of it. He stabbed at the last of it, lifting it to his mouth and placing it as he swallowed deeply and ended his appetizer with a smile.
I guess my parents would be happy to see me smile too.
He had slid his plate aside as he reached for the second that was holding the small mound of flan. His apple was already near empty from the spill, so he picked it up as he had taken a bite and another to follow in eagerness. It wasn’t the thought of trying to smile, but to hide his happy expression behind that apple. Sure both of his parents weren’t dead at that one time when he felt alone, and he wasn’t always confident back then like now, but he was happy to know what was missing.
Now he knew if Parfaye nor Mint was around, he still had a reason to smile. They’d want him to after all.

Anora glanced up and she smiled at him, he was really sweet. She was glad that they had run into one another, maybe fate was working here to let her have a chance at making a friend that she could talk with. Maybe she could even prove to be a friend to him as well, if he wanted her to be so.
It wasn't lost on her, the similarities that they shared. Perhaps they had met so they would be able to talk to one another and have someone else to connect with. She looked at the other Flan on the table and moved it closer, sticking a fork into one side and carefully detaching a small piece to taste. It had some strange looking sauce on it that seemed an oddity on the jelly looking substance, but maybe that's what made it taste good. Anora lifted the fork to her mouth and tasted the amazing flavors that suddenly spread over her tongue.
This taste was unlike anything she had every tasted before, being so sweet that it was almost too sweet for her taste. Anora looked at him to see if he thought the same thing.
"This is amazing, I love how this taste. Though it is very sweet, I'm not sure I could eat it that often."
She couldn't help laughing warmly while she thought about today. It wasn't one of those day where she had to pretend to be happy for others.... today she actually was happy, her family would be happy for that. Anora knew they would have wanted her to smile again, it had just taken her a little time to realize that she could do so.

”I guess we should make the best of this desert now then.”
He had let out a small laugh to follow behind the simple joke. His fork dividing a small portion of the desert before he had reached down with a poke and placed it in his mouth as he let his lips motion with a slide from the fork and enjoy the desert. He had snacked on his desert happily as his eyes were closed so sudden for a moment that he barely noticed himself enjoying it before opening his eyes to see Anora’s own. He was starting to get use to those eyes looking at him now. He was pretty sure she didn’t think he looked silly…he thought…he hoped.
”I think I should try foreign foods more often. I wonder if they do take outs. One of the reasons I came to get something to eat was because I wanted my sisters to have something when they were done. Although, they aren’t exactly one to eat their vegetables...”
It was like him at the moment to think about the sisters. If it weren’t for the two of them, he wouldn’t have met Anora. Now that he thought about it, they seemed to always send him out to run errands and then would leave him alone whenever they wanted to go do things for themselves Maybe they expected him to go make friends like Anora since all he did was sit in cooped up in that garden.

Anora laughed along softly with him, enjoying the joke that he had made about things. She smiled up at him before she looked back to the flan and gently cut apart another small piece with her fork. The flan was very soft and light, it was crazy to think of it as jello before because it was so different from it really. She couldn't even begin to describe the flavors that were playing across her tongue right now.
Her eyes lifted only whenever she heard him speak again, pulling her out of her distant thoughts to pay attention. She hated whenever others ignored her, so she tried to never ignore others who were speaking to her. Her eyes were bright and cheerful as they looked into his bright eyes, which made her smile wider each time she looked at them. Sure he looked a little different from most other guys, but she liked the way he looked because it suited him. Of course she couldn't tell him that, not when she didn't know how he would take it, she thought it was a pretty good thing, but he might not, she didn't know.
"It would be nice if they did do carry out. Then at another time you could always come and get something to take home. And you know, I bet if you took the apple with the cream in it to your sisters they might eat that. It looks like a dessert enough, but it has some healthy qualities, like the apple, that they might not notice."
She smiled warmly, it was good that he was taking care of his sisters. It was nice to have a family, someone that he could look after..... it certainly did make the days better and less lonely.

Most likely not…
He had thought that part to himself. He didn’t want to say Anora was wrong. A girl so nice, to say she was wrong was like a blow to her kindness. It was true, Parfaye and Mint weren’t exactly meat eaters, but he hadn’t gone to say they knew apple when they held it, and definitely when they had seen it before their very eyes. There were getting past time. Maybe a crept would suffice, but as far as fruit and vegetables went, he made sure he was careful not to present them to the girls unless he had them perfectly masked under some guise, like the toppings along a nice juicy steak.
He was beginning to think maybe he should have explain to him that his sisters weren’t exactly little sisters, but to do so, he would have to explain why they looked older than him, and then he would have to explain the reason behind that reason, and eventually, Anora would probably look at him in a strange way and anything afterwards…well…it was a lonely life for Xenneth, and his family secrets were the reason why.
This kind friend he sat in front of had been one of many that he enjoyed an evening with, and one of many that he’d wave to and in the end see vanish with only a wish that they’d be safe. He wasn’t going to fool himself. He knew what he had to keep to himself, and he knew the consequences if he didn’t. An aura that was eternally bliss and caring, but it was only a brief moment that he shared this moment with someone, and even then, he never seen them unless it was a friendly visit to the gardens. He never tried to go out his way and “hang out” or “chill” as far as these things went with the same people. It was always someone different at a time, and he had given a weak smile taking in Anora’s consideration.
”Yes, that would be nice.”
He had thought that to himself. At that time where he would give those take outs to his sister and bid Anora farewell, it would be a very long time until he’d see her again.
To keep someone close, he had to keep them far.

Anora smiled softly whenever she looked at Xenneth. He didn't appear to say much and he seemed to be thinking in his own world. She watched him curiously and wondered if there was anything she had done or said that had bothered him lately.
Looking back to her flan she finished it off and went back to sipping the cream from her apple that was still pretty much shaped like a cup... of course the top of the cup was broken up a little from her taking bites. Anora raised her eyes though, determined to find something to make him really smile again,
"You should come over to my flower shop sometime. It's really not far from here so it wouldn't be out of the way I hope, and you know, I could always use an opinion on some of the flowers that I'm trying to breed and create there."
She thought to herself that she would go home and look into making a special flower, he was a great inspiration for her. It had been an eternity since she had gotten out and had fun with someone else..... she really liked this part of life and knew that she needed to do so more often.
"Of course we could do something else as well if you would rather."

Xenneth had meant to stab lightly at the small morsel of flan that was divided upon his plate only to miss hearing Anora speak once more.
Oh…Ms. Anora.
He had thought this to himself as well. Even though he did think that in dismay, he had given an honest smile; the dishonest one. He stabbed at the flan once again as he limply lifted his right hand letting the flan teeter on the teeth while staring across the table to the young woman who had made such a request to him. This was his third invite this week from a close friend to visit them and yet, he had kept them as a thought or option. He didn’t really consider them in truth. He just thought of the invite. That enough was a kind gesture to him.
He wanted to visit, honestly, but he just wasn’t ready to develop friendships that were so close that they were regular. He had a job to do after all, and between catering to the gardens and walking the streets looking for abnormalities, he focused on this world’s state. He was always concerned about this world to the point where he thought it was just only a job for him. Most of the time, he would think he didn’t deserve to be honest friends with the secrets he and his sisters had held dear.
However, if there was one thing he wanted of a friend like Ms. Anora, he wanted her to smile. That’s the way Xenneth was: he wanted everyone to smile.
”I‘d love to!”
He nodded his head happily gazing towards Anora before placing the serving of gelatin on his tongue. He had given some sound chews for the scrumptious dish that almost melted on his tongue. Only small bases of his apple remained as he had let a thought come to mind. His eyes setting on Anora in a melancholy expression that was just like him. It was gentle, even in his nervous or saddened show.
”If it‘s too much to ask, perhaps one day, you can maybe visit the garden. It would be nice if you saw the flowers there too.”
Maybe she would enjoy seeing the garden?/ Maybe he’d be able to tell her his story one of those visits? Maybe he’d be able to give her a nice packet of garden sampler seeds for her to grow a flower to remember that visit, whether she did or didn’t accept that truth, like everyone else?
Yeah, those would be nice memories, no matter how those visits would end.

She smiled while she sat there eating her apple and enjoying it's delicious flavor. The cream was still cool and delightful, she was grateful to be able to sit here with such great company, enjoying the taste of this amazing dessert.
Still, it delighted Anora more whenever he said that he would come by. Her smile got even brighter if that were possible and she looked up at him happily. Unable to think of anything that could make the day much better then having her new friend come to the place that she treasured above all else.
"I'm very glad, I can't wait to show you around and show you the beautiful flowers that I'd grown and collected for the shop."
It was interesting to watch him, he seemed to be smiling, though there was still something in the way that he looked, something in his eyes maybe that had her wondering if he truly was happy. It was hard to pinpoint what could make him so, though she honestly wished to help him in any way that she could.
"That's not at all too much to ask, I would love to come by the gardens to see your flowers. And I would like to be able to see you again as well, your company is really nice to have around."

”Well thank you very much. I‘m so relieved to know that.”
A little or some along those lines. If his company was that assuring, then maybe he could be friends with Anora. This town was still strange to him. It had made him feel out of place if anything, and the clothes he found weren’t exactly what he was into a long time ago, but they were pretty much close to it. It was strange however that some people still were the same. They all were such good people, not affected the least by changes of time. Still good ones, still bad ones, still the world as we know it.
He had taken a napkin into his fingers as he wiped away the remnants of his meal from his face. There was nothing more than the base left of his apple and a syrupy plate that was mounted by a clean saucer. Wiping away the juices from his face and even any bits of cream that he still smelt upon his nose from that moment where he bit into the apple uncontrollably, he had bald the napkin up and sat it upon the tray so he would toss it away later when he went to the disposable nearby.
”That was very good! Don‘t you think?” he had asked with a smile. ”…I‘m afraid I couldn‘t eat another bite.” he had said seeing that the base of the apple was such a waste. He had placed his hands down upon the table as he sat now trying not to watch Anora eat. Staring was rude after all. A thought trailing through his mind as he however couldn’t help, but to stare at her.
Now that I think about it, I think having friends might not be so bad. It‘s not like anything seriously happens in this city anyway.
He only wished he was right.
