Xenneth had that face. The one that was part “frowny” and part of a ridiculous smile. He couldn’t contain himself anymore as he had stared towards Anora, and before long he tossed his head forward laughing slightly in a low chuckle to himself. He had shown his face from over his shoulder to see Anora who followed along with him.
”I-I‘m so sorry. You‘re so funny Anora!” he had simply said with the silly expression. ”I-I‘m not laughing at you…but it‘s just, you‘re so careful with things, and you‘re so self aware while also being considerate of others. I can tell that you must make a lot of decisions and trade-offs.” he had said as he turned his face away from her only to twiddle his fingers. Sure he wasn’t like before, but there was on habit, and one when it came to Xenneth.
It was the fear of trying to speak to girls about himself.
It was unbearable, it felt as if he was sweating bullets, so he had turned away looking forward while he spoke aloud not to show the funny expression on his face as his cheeks flushed red from embarrassment from the mention. It was along with his fingers flicking each other that he remembered he hadn’t done this for a while. It had been a day or two since he hadn’t talked to anyone that was around. He was nervous that he might creep someone out with the concept that his family was a bunch of…
Well, that wasn’t important now, but it was just he wasn’t exactly normal.
”Hey, I have an ide-…”
Xenneth had paused as he had turned forward. His nose lifted into the air slightly as if he was a cute hound. He didn’t sniff hard, but the aroma had imbedded itself into his nostrils. He had paused as he turned to his right, and then his left as he had been caught off guard by the sudden smell.
”That smells…different….but sweet.”
He had paused turning finally as he saw a distant stand. It had such a sweet smell that was alluring, and it was fresh seeming to have an aroma of milk. It was at a nearby bakery stand with a foreign appearance that seemed so strange. He had looked at the sign that was in a different language and a use of characters that seemed to be North American, but yet in a different arrangement that made the words seem like they had a different pronunciation. There was a small Japanese translation of letters that made Xenneth narrow his eyes to read and concentrate.
”Span-ish…ba-ked…goods.”
He had mused to himself staring at the sign before turning to his left and gazing towards Anora puzzled before he smiled and his face brightened up seeming to have a bright idea.
”Hey! Since you don‘t care for a lot of meat, then this place seems healthy for you! Why don‘t we look to see what they have? That way, we don‘t have to walk far…besides..”
He had frowned slightly as his eyes seemed to be in a sulky manner as he placed his hand on his stomach.
”After smelling that, I kind of gotten even hungrier.” he admitted.

Anora was caught off guard by his laughing, and even though he said he wasn't laughing at her, it still stung slightly to know how right he was about her. She hadn't always been this way, her life used to be very carefree and she was able to do things without thinking, but life was different now and she didn't have that luxury anymore.
"I guess I do tend to over-think things sometimes, it's just a habit that I've developed I suppose. Still, I'm really not that self away, I just think about others since I don't worry about myself too much anymore. I know that I'm able to take care of myself so I don't have to worry about that too much."
Anora smiled, wanting to keep the mood light and not let him think that she had felt anything from what he had said. There was no need to slow down the progress that they were making, things were going along so well after all.
She was listening to him carefully whenever he started talking about having an idea, but he broke off kinda suddenly. Looking around she tried to see what he might of seen, though he appeared to be sniffing the air instead since he spoke of smelling something sweet. Anora breathed in deeply, trying to catch what he was smelling and she also picked up the scent.
"That does smell really good"
The sign was a little strange, she had never seen wording like that before and she was definately unable to read it. The air here though would make anyone hungry, in fact, her stomach growled a little... making her cheeks flush a soft pink. Apparently it was making her hungrier as well.
"I think that's a good idea, I guess I am more hungry then I thought that I was."

”Hee hee! It‘s decided then!”
He hadn’t walked, but almost broke into a light job as he slowed it just as quickly stopping in front of the stand. The man spoke in a strange dialect that he wasn’t sure of translating simply hearing “Hola Nino” as he was a bit puzzled by the words. He placed his right hand to the side of his right cheek pressing his index finger against his cheek.
”Ho-la?” he had repeated to himself lowly until he had picked his head up. ”I guess that means…hello, right?” he had said it to himself lowly before he had come to a halt and started to notice the man had gone back to work rolling dough and fetching pastries in a hurry from a nearby oven. He most likely had little time to speak at the moment. Xenneth had taken this moment to kneel down and looked at all the pasties beyond the glass.
It was an average shop there built into one the of the blocks of the mall. A slanted and curved glass that bulged as it ran toward the base had aligned different kinds of baked goods with the names translated to and fro with the final Japanese letters being that of the price. They seemed to be affordable, and if anything within a good price range, but the question on the young boy’s mind was the baked goods worth it?
He could see a ton of different breads and baked items that bore strange qualities. He even saw some that weren’t even breads, but rather fruits and pleasant sweets that required ovens as well. It was strange what you could put in an oven these days. He had wondered what to buy.
”Hey, Anora! Look at this!”
He had pointed to one of the fruit items that had caught his eye. It wasn’t a cake or some sort of pastry like the others. It was actually one of the fruits he kept his eye on as it seemed to be an apple peeled with it’s skin missing and it’s top was gone as well. A matter of fact, it was round like that of a strange cup and it was baked to a succulent light brown. The center was replaced by a reach filling of cold condensed milk and topped by a swirl of whip cream.
”This seems like it‘s healthy for you. It doesn‘t look too sweet to be a dessert, and it‘s really an apple too! I wonder if it tastes good?”
His index finger had pressed along his bottom lip curiously. It had been a while since he tried something foreign, but he had to admit, he had a thing for healthy foods too that were fruit and vegetables. That’s of course how he stayed fit. Unlike his sisters who had a liking for meat every now and again, he barely had time to cook side dishes and veggies that would appeal to him. This treat seemed like something he would favor.
His eyes had shifted digressing from one thing to another as he had noticed a strange fold of food that had looked familiar. He pointed to it letting his lips shift into a circular shape in bewilderment.
”Oh…and this! It looks like a folded pancake!”
He had turned his head slightly as he reached pressing his fingers along the glass to balanced him as he kneeled down. Before long, he had found this place a bit amusing to his tastes. Not only that, but he was getting even hungrier with that growing curiosity just wondering how the stuff would taste. He had looked back to Anora from over his shoulder as he had shot his delighted expression to her showing he had another whimsical thought in mind.
”Let‘s try them both! They‘re pretty close to some stuff we usually eat, so they can‘t be all that bad.”

Anora could only watch the two of them, she noticed the man behind the counter had said something, but what.... well she didn't have the slightest idea. She didn't speak what this guy did, though still a hello was fairly obvious in there. She looked over at Xenneth who seemed to be alright either way. Even if he didn't understand things either, he seemed to be very content and happy with looking at the food that was there while waiting for the foreign man to return. She smiled lightly, it was interesting how he was so at peace and so calm with everything.... or almost everything, surprising him didn't go too well.
At the sound of her name, Anora turned slightly so that she could see what it was that Xenneth seemed to be so interested in. He sounded excited about whatever it was, so she moved closer to kneel down a bit next to him. The item he was pointing at really did look pretty good, though she had never seen anything like it before. It made her wonder what such a dish would be called.
"That looks really nice, I bet that it taste just as good as it looks, after all it's pretty hard to ruin an apple."
She smiled brighter, looking at some of the other baked good that were near them. So much of this all looked to be so good, she couldn't help wanting to try a little bit of everything there. He pointed to something else, it really didn't look like a pancake in its own way so she nodded at his idea to get them both and to try them.
"I think that sounds like a great idea. We sound get them both and try them to see how they are. Oh, and maybe we could get one of the less healthy sweet desserts as well. I don't know about you, but I'm kinda in the mood for something sweet."

”Hee hee! Now you‘re talking!”
Xenneth had let out his signature little giggle before he turned back to the glass trying to find something sweet and unhealthy that seemed enjoyable. Seeing it was requested by someone he was with, he’d break out of his persistent will to find just what a friend requested. His eyes sharpening in utmost confidence as he aimed to find something so unhealthy that it looked like it would give someone diabetes the moment it touched your tongue. The moment he had had saw just what he thought he was looking for, he stood up lifting his fingers from the glass and pointed a the strange miniature round mold that almost anyone would recognize as a foreign familiar.
”Hey! Look at that!” he had chanted in excitement.
The item he pointed to was cylindrical in a low toward shape. It’s sided form yellow all around, but topped off with a brown color that seemed to have some sort of shine as it bobbled in place like gelatin, but not as wobbly. He had saw the top of it ended with a small squirt of whip cream as he seemed to blink while his mouth opened in it’s wondrous intrigue.
”I‘ve seen this before! I believe it‘s called…flan?” he had asked recollecting in wonder before pausing, ”…but I didn‘t think that it was something served by this culture. I thought it was some other place?”
He had stood up as he turned around to lift his finger to Anora. His left hand lifted as he placed his index upon each knuckle unraveling a finger each time counting off the items he was to hire.
”Okay! I guess we order two of those three items, and that‘ll be it.”
He had confirmed that before turning around. His eyes catching a glimpse of the menu as he had reached to the strange pamphlet. He observed the items one by one seeing the pictures and the translations were in parenthesis for him to read. He had taken a step to the side as he had smiled reading the menu as he had pointed to the proper pronunciations. Even though they were clear as day….it was still utterly difficult for him to read. He grew embarrassed as he could swear he got dizzy. Before long, he had held the pamphlet and wavered his hands in the air to the man behind the stand.
”E-e-excuse me sir!” he had chanted catching the man’s attention. He had a chef’s hat on in the classical top cylindrical design. He had spoke saying, “Si?” which Xenneth was at this point assuming what he meant as he stepped up to the stand clearing his throat. Not long before so, he had held up the menu as he seemed to present it to the man. Though he couldn’t understand him, he could see that this would most likely take all day trying to explain what he wanted.
His index finger once again touched his bottom lip as he was in thought. He had came up with an idea as he smiled briefly turning away from the big husky man and to Anora.
”Hey! Anora! It could be difficult to explain our order, so…umm…you wouldn‘t happen to have a pen, would you?”
Another bright idea from the violet haired flower child? There was no doubt in his mind that he was on to something.

Anora laughed softly, she was really glad that he liked the idea since she really did want something nice and sweet to calm her sweet tooth. It was rare whenever she wanted something unhealthy, though whenever she did get the feeling then she had to find something really worth while.
She looked into the glass, wondering what might work whenever Xenneth drew her attention back to something he was pointing at. The strange yellow substance looked a little familiar, though she wasn't sure why... she knew that she had certainly never eaten anything like that before so why would she know it? Shaking off the feeling, Anora looked at him with her smile widening slightly.
"That does look good, so sure we'll go with that."
She waited patiently, nodding whenever he spoke of getting a couple of the items they had been looking at, certain that anything would taste pretty nice. Though she soon realized that they had a little bit of a language barrier occurring whenever the man didn't seem to understand what Xenneth was talking about. Anora felt her pockets whenever he asked for a pen, but nothing was there and she shook hr head slightly,
"I'm afraid not.... maybe if you try pointing to the foods inside the glass then he'll know what you mean that way?"

Xenneth had blinked once or twice as he retained that perplexed look while aiming it towards Anora.
”Oh! Good idea! I wonder why I didn‘t think of that?”
Xenneth had turned around before he had lifted his hand to get the man’s attention. He had leaned his head to the right cutely with a simple jump of his shoulder with it. He had pointed to the first item which was that cream topped apple. His eyes lifting and gesturing to the man as he closed them and given a nod of his head. At that moment the man reached a pair of metal clamp like utensils out as he grabbed the item. Xenneth who watched had lifted his hand up as he picked up his index and middle finger signing to the main once more.
His skills with foreign language might’ve been downright terrible, even for someone who wanted to be medical student, but that didn’t change the fact that he was good with his hand signs. He had repeated the same as he pointed for the items once by one until there was a spread meant for two. He had smiled, but took his time looking over the foods until he had paused once more. There was a real problem as he frowned catching the man’s attention as well.
He had brushed at his smooth chin with his index and thumb in thought. There was no facial hair, nor peach fuzz on Xenenth’s chin to his name. It really didn’t go to well for a face like his. He had snapped his right hand as he soon figured out what was missing and quickly flipped the pages of the pamphlet with his thumb. He had smiled as he turned the pamphlet around and lifted his arms as he reached across showing the small picture of the displayed item. At least he recognized THIS and knew it would be good for him.
In no time at all, the bulk man had placed two fresh cool cups of milk for the two.
He had smiled as he nodded his head. Not long before that, he reached into his back pocket presenting himself with his wallet as his eyes shifted between the ringing up numbers and the leather blue pouch in his pocket. He had reached out his thumbs opening it as he saw the total amount displayed there. He had looked over his shoulder to Anora as he had gazed at her feeling a bit conflicted remembering that she didn’t want him paying for the food.
”I know you said you‘d pay for your food, but I really wouldn‘t mind. Are you sure you wouldn‘t rather save your money for shopping?”
It wasn’t that he felt like giving the girl charity, it’s just he really wanted to be nice for his friend, regardless that he had a large bundle of money himself. That’s what happens when one’s mother knew their way around the system. She knew he would do nothing more than keep the money on hand for absolutely no reason, and seeing he and his sisters worked together, then the income was near perfect. Though he still offered, he didn’t force her to take his generosity, but he still kept his friendly gesture available for her.

"I'm sure you would of thought of it next"
Anora laughed softly, glad to see that he approved her her idea. It certainly seeming like the next best thing to do whenever they had no pen with which to write anything down. She watched as he gestured to the food for the man behind the counter while she stood back up and continued to look at the different things in the cases, figuring it wouldn't hurt to look and see what else they had there for later use.
"Oh, of course.... I can pay for my own, don't worry. Besides, I'm really not sure how much shopping I even plan to do after this."
She smiled at him warmly, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a bit of money to help out with things, making sure to pull out a little extra even as a sort of tip for helping them out. It was no problem for her, she worked really hard and rarely spent her money on anything, so she had saved up a nice amount, even with having to pay for rent to live and normal supplies that she needed around her house. It also helped that she usually ate at home and cooked her own food to save having to spend money at restaurants that were much too expensive.

”Oh! Okay then!!”
He had simply made note of that as he reached for the man paying for his half of the bill and leaving Anora to pay for the second while he made haste to sat the tray at the table while she tended ot that.
Xenneth had reached for the tray seeing the ticket in the center of the items. It took impeccable balance to make sure those glasses didn’t spill over, nor did the contents of the shaven apple had ran from it’s insides. For the sake of not making a klutzy oaf of himself he had held true as he walked to the nearest table with his hands gripping the sides and feet carefully making a walk that was more subtle and careful.
One…Two…One…Two…clack!
He sighed a breath of relief as he heard the tray tap the table upon one of the two tables that were in front of the foreign pastry shop. It seemed to be quite small business. Maybe it was because people wasn’t so sure about the foods? It was strange how people reacted to things that they haven’t tried before, but Xenneth hadn’t given it a second thought seeing he had a raging stomach of hunger on his hands.
”Thank goodness…I didn‘t mess up.” he thought to himself.
Looking over his shoulder to see if Anora was approaching, he had walked around the table reaching and pulling out one chair while proceeding around to the next as he pulled it out to stand at the other end. It was so proper of him to be kind following the usual routine of how to act like a girl like it was a distributed rule book to all men, but it was just him. More or less it was an impulse, just as it was as he divided their plates among each other leaving nothing but the tray at the center side of the table of the spread as he had finally able to sat himself down.
Now that he thought about it, this habit was because none of his sisters took on the role of ever setting the table.
He brushed the thought away as he took his seat to the right side of the table behind his spread as he awaited for Anora. It was rude to start without everyone at the dinner table after all

Anora payed for the other part of the food, smiling politely as she got her change back before heading towards the table that Xenneth had chosen for them. She noticed that her chair was pulled out and smiled warmly as she took her seat opposite of him. She was impressed that he had been able to get the tray over here without spilling anything. Anora was pretty clumsy and she was sure that she would have spilled or dropped something.
"It's a good thing that you have better balance then what I do. Though you didn't have to wait for me... still it was very nice of you. So let's try this out and see how it taste"
She couldn't wait to see what this strange dessert was going to be like. Hopefully it would taste as good as it appeared to be. Things looked to be really nice, the cool cream and the delicious looking apple. It was certainly an impressive looking presentation.

”N-no! Don‘t be silly…!” Xenneth had beaconed with a quick reply hearing her modesty, ”…you‘re my guest Ms. Anora. Even so, I find it customary that friends and family are patient for one another to show the utmost consideration. That‘s all!” he had said that as he sat down on his end of the table staring towards her as if she had gotten him wrong. It was true, he wasn’t sure if he could do something so thoughtless and gorge himself when Anora had her back turned. She wasn’t just some random person in the mall, but she was a friend of his now who had tagged along.
He was slightly embarrassed hearing himself call out to her and explain himself. Sure he didn’t have to, but he wanted to keep things straight with Anora. She wasn’t just some one he saw in the mall, she was his friend, and his guest just for even wasting her time on someone like him; a person who had all the time of the world. She wouldn’t understand now, but if he had the chance to explain, he would one day, just as he owed to anyone else who had spent even a second on him. He felt sorry for them just thinking about that.
His face turning back to the gentle expression as he smiled kindly reaching for the utensils he was supplied with. A fork that he placed in his hand as if it was alien to him at first dawdling between his fingers, but finally gripping it the proper way. He had let his expression drift towards Anora as his mouth opened slightly in embarrassment since it had been a while since he eaten on the other side of the table with a dinner guest besides his sisters.
”W-well…I guess as you say, we should try out delicacies.”
He spoke taking the small fork and stabbing at the end of the crepe upon his plate. He pulled away as the syrup and fruit dropping syrup had greatly loosened it’s texture making it easy to scoop and lift to his mouth.
”As they say….Bon Appeete…umm….I think…”
He was nervous as he know he pronounced the words wrong, but it didn’t matter since he’d have fun trying his new platter. He had given it a taste as it almost felt as if he had wheat in his mouth and he came to realize the dark brown texture hid so much cinnamon upon it’s surface. It was truly delicious with the topped butter as well. It was like a pancake, but not like any he tried before.
He had mused a hum from his mouth as he finished chewing expressing his delight.

"Well that's very nice of you Xenneth, I don't think that I've ever met anyone who was so polite before. I guess it was just a little unexpected. Of course, my family was very polite and kind and they taught me to be so as well, but usually around each other we weren't quiet so formal so I didn't really pick up too much on their habits."
Anora smiled at him softly, she liked that he was so kind and polite around other people. A lot of people she had met recently had been very rude to her and caused her to kinda close herself off more to others. She looked down at her apple, picking up the fork as he had done. She looked back up towards Xenneth once again, and nodded slightly to his suggestion before breaking off a little of the apple with the cream inside and taking a bit. Likewise, she was amazed by the flavor, chewing it carefully and taking her time to enjoy how it tasted before swallowing it down,
"This is really amazing, I'm glad we picked these up"
She smiled at him, glancing over to see the crape he had taken a bite from and wondering how that was going to be after she finished off the apple dessert that she had before her,
"You should really try this one, it taste sweet but also with the natural apple taste to it as well. It's really an interesting flavor."

”I see.”
He smiled in understanding. His fork in his grip slightly lowering it’s pointed end as he relaxed his hand in comfort hearing that.
Anora must have lots of fun with her family.
A tender thought that made him muse to himself more than the sweet flavored treats in front of his face ever could. He was more thoughtful of family, but it was probably because he lacked one back then. His father wasn’t exactly around for him when he was little. Now he wasn’t able to be around for him at all seeing time had done it’s accursed job. His mother wasn’t in any better of his delicate situation since she had been missing in his life until recently found. The surprise of why she was away was…just that; a surprise. By the time however that he went to sleep with his mother that fateful day, he had awakened to find that his household had three adopted sisters. Two of them that stayed to accompany him like protectors and the other to aid his mother when it came to business.
Having her in his life hadn’t changed him much. She only added onto his gentle nature by presenting his shy side with wisdom that he wouldn’t never thought of. Now he had the mind to match his withdrawn nature, but he was never too withdrawn now to accept his embarrassments. If he wouldn’t have met his mother, he wouldn’t have been so out going as to ask Anora to accompany him, and he would’ve ran off the moment that loads of panties and bras had poured from those bags he carried.
“Whatever happens….happens!”
He could remember his mother quoting that once more as she waved her brown skinned finger through the air and tapped his noggin with that one index finger as if she was tossing the saying into his head. It was his new saying as well. If he would look silly, if he would try only to fail, if life was to pause right before his eyes over an unbelievable disaster that he couldn’t foresee…
Whatever happened….happened. He’d still be able to press on with those words in mind. He was his mother’s son.
Breaking away from his comforting thoughts that had him blanketed until Anora had recommended the delectable apple to him, he had nodded taken notice to what she said. His right hand that had the fork slanted and sat upon the edge of the plate was placed there as he looked towards the treat. It was topped with whip cream swiveled and it’s insides filled with creamy milk. He wasn’t sure if he could break off a piece with a fork without making a mess and the milk spilling out, so he simply lifted it to his mouth as he rounded the top around carefully so the milk wouldn’t spill from under the cream. His mouth opened slight as he placed his lip among the side of the peeled fruit and his teeth had bitten off a nibble around it’s top.
He chewed, relished the flavor, and then swallowed lightly as he opened his eyes.
”Ah! So delicious!”
His lips twisted slightly in a speckled manner. He had saw something white in front of his face. Looking at the apple in hand, he had noticed that the top of the whip cream had a large smudge along it’s top, and he could probably guess what caused it.
He reached the apple sitting it down as his other hand reached for a napkin upon the table. His hands coveting his nose that was stained with the whip cream as he sighed in embarrassment and his cheeks colored a deep seated rosy red as he had closed his eyes.
”So embarrassing…” he had said lowly.
His mouth was muffled by his napkin knowing she would’ve seen him in that instant since it took him even a while to notice it himself.
Yeah…whatever happens…happens.

Anora nodded slightly and moved the apple a bit closer so she could lick off some of the whip cream that was on top. She had been sure to only take a small outer piece off to try the apple with the whip cream before, though she wasn't sure that she would be so lucky once again. One thing that Anora couldn't figure out though, was why she had told him about her family, it was strange since she hadn't been able to talk to anyone about them since the accident.
Her parents, her only family, had been killed in a car accident just a year ago, she had faced a hard time because of it, though after a couple of months she knew that she had to keep on living because thats what they would have wanted. Anora had kept on, and she had allowed herself to be happy and to try to help others to be happy as well. Just because things went wrong now and then, didn't mean they always had to go so wrong.
She was about to take a sip of the milk inside of it whenever he also took a bite of his apple. It was a pretty good thing that she hadn't managed a drink after all because whenever she looked up, he had whipped cream on the tip of his nose which only caused her to start giggling. She watched as he quickly covered it, though she only shook her head slightly and smiled up at him, through all of her chuckling. She could see his cheeks turning red and that only made her smile more
"You don't have to be embarrassed Xenneth, it looked kinda cute. Besides, you enjoyed it so that was good. I really think their good as well"
She took a sip from the apple cup, sipping the milk and getting a little cream on her nose as well to show him that it wasn't such a bad or embarrassing thing at all. Anora smiled at him warmly, even though she wasn't usually a bold person, because of her past, she had made it a personal goal of hers to help others be happy and she didn't want him to be feeling weird.

Taboo!
He hissed in his mind hearing her call him cute. A girl calling him cute was something he’d never get use to, and it was also something his mother and sisters knew. It made his cheeks stretch most of the time like his smile was causing friction that would make an inferno. He lowered his head as his violet lochs of hair slightly shadowed his face as he was quick to bite his lip and release some of the smiling tension he had. He lifted his head once more as he slid the napkin from over his mouth showing that blissful smile with his eyes shut to relieve the tension.
”Umm…thank you, Anora!”
He had opened his eyes showing the calm blue sapphire colors once more. They seemed like that of a sparkling ocean. One wouldn’t notice that he had some sort of arcane surgery some time ago. It was flawless. He often wondered exactly what did they do to fix his face to keep his composure as is since he didn’t even have a scar. Remember that though, it only made him digress to remember that he wasn’t exactly normal.
A depressing thought. He had to come from it as he kept a weak smile at that moment as he reached for his fork and decided to once again continue eating his crepe. He easily jabbed his fork end into the thin pancake as he lifted his eyes from what he was doing setting his sight back upon Anora.
”So, umm…your family. I bet you all had lots of fun, right?”
He was curious to know now. It was either that or try to change the subject, but to his utmost honesty, with her bringing up the subject of how polite her family was. It was interesting since his politeness came form seclusion and online manners and books. Not everyone was like him to grow up without much of a family being there for him personally for that matter.
