[Hope its ok to start something happening ] Alexa walked through the Yebisu stadium, looking over the various duels going on, keeping an eye out for anyone paticularly talented, as she did every so often, after all - It can't hurt to know your competition for the next tournament can it? As she rounded a corner though, she saw something that stopped her in her tracks. A group of Ookami clan were tormenting a young Tora girl. Upon closer observation it was clear that there were a couple of major ringleaders, taking part in the actual tormenting of the girl, while some others simply watched. A couple looked reticent and uncomfortable with the goings on, but didn't say anything. Alexa cleared her throat loudly. One of the Ookami turned to her and laughed "Hey look, the true might of the Tora clan has shown itself - one puny girl. We should run before she fights us off with her amazing strength!" he said, feigning horror. Alexa frowned sharply at him "And I see that the Ookami clan is being honourable as always, picking on a young girl, for goodness sake she's barely ten! She only joined the clan a week ago! I honestly just don't get how being randomly selected for a clan that isn't yours makes it seem right to you to torment the poor girl!" The boy growled "Don't insult our honour!" he yelled, before regaining his composure and smirking "What, do you want to take us on?" Alexa smiled confidently "How about we settle this without a fight, as such. We are in a duel arena after all, I win and you leave the girl, and me alone." The boy crossed his arms "Fine, but if we win, you have to, hmmm, I don't know - do a little job for me and my friends here, but I won't tell you what till you lose, which you will." Alexa could guess what the boy probably had in mind, boys were digusting like that "Fine. But I'm not going to lose. Which of you is going to duel then?" The Ookami huddled, deciding on a duellist for the match. [so - anyone Ookami can be the duellist, I've covered all the mindsets I think, so you can be one of the jeerers or the 'feeling sorry' people, depending on your character's personality]

Yomi yawned and stepped up to the challenge. She was getting quite tired of this farce that her clan mates are performing at this moment anyways, and besides, she has been a little rusty from the lack of dueling lately anyways.
She walked up towards the Tora female and said, "All right, little girl versus little girl, this should be fun." Yomi then took out a coin from her pocket, glanced over at her opponent and said, "Your call, heads or tails?"

Alexa was inwardly infuriated by this girls indifference to the doing of her clan, but kept it from showing and simply stated, "Heads."

Yomi gave a small nod and flips the coin and took a look. "Heads. Tis your call then, first or second?"

"I think I'll go first thanks, unless you feel you need the advantage?" Alexa replied, taking her place in the arena and placing her deck on the card reader. "Lets duel!" Alexa cried, in an incredibly cliched and corny manner, drawing her five cards before picking up again for her first turn.
Hmmm, Alexa thought, not a bad hand, Gemini Elf, Dark Blade, Silent Swordsman lvl 3, Rush Recklessly, Negate Attack and Silent Magician lvl 8.
The last was useless until she got the previous level, but Silent Swordsman could be useful.
"Alright! I summon Silent Swordsman level 3! In attack mode!" Alexa cried, placing the card down, as the little figure appeared in the stadium.
Quite a crowd had gathered now, bets were being made and cheers from fellow clan members, even some Kuma clan were there, observing their rivals battle it out.
"Next I'll place two cards face down." Alexa said, laying negate attack and rush recklessly
The little swordsman will be in for a big boost if she tries to attack, and then theres negate attack if her monster is too powerful. Hopefuly he'll survive till next turn and I'll be able to summon the level 5 version.
"Ok, I can't attack so that'll do me, I end my turn." Alexa said, revealling nothing of her intentions.
[I'll keep a little log of the field and life points at the bottom of my posts so we don't lose track]
Life Points: Alexa: 8000 Yomi: 8000
Field: Alexa: Silent Swordsman Lvl 3 (Atk mode, Atk 1000 Def 1000), 2 face down magic/trap cards

((OOC: I gave Alexa permission to edit her post. So if you are wondering, she isn't cheating))
Yomi doesn't like how the field looks after the first turn, but she shrugged it off and drew her initial hand. Solemn Judgment, Stamping Destruction, Trap Jammer... looking decent so far. She continued drawing the last remaining cards of her hand. Another Solemn, Bottomless Trap Hole... Yomi let out a sigh and thought to herself 'This hand is horrid, come on, let me draw a monster'. She drew her last card and smiled, finally, a monster and it's one of her favourite to boot.
Yomi gave sort of a mischevious grin when she said, "All right, to start off, I will summon my pretty Mirage Dragon (1600/600) in attack." A yellow dragon appeared on the field. Perhaps some find it ugly, but Yomi loves her dragon's appearance as well as its effect. "Next up, here comes the Stamping Destruction. Let's target the face-down nearest to your deck."

Alexa cringed as her negate attack was blown to smithereens by Yomi's magic card, she just hoped that she didn't power up Mirage Dragon at all or her little swordsman was out of there. Although thanks to Mirage Dragon's effect it wouldn't have been much use anyway.
"Is that all you've got?" Alexa taunted, sounding a lot more confident than she felt.
(I tossed a coin to decide which one the nearest my deck was - I'm not just picking the one I want to stay - cross my heart and hope to cry)

Yomi shook her head in some frustration. After all, with Mirage Dragon, Alexa cannot activate her trap anyways. But still, 500 points of damage to her opponent is a nice side effect. She proceeded to set all but her second Solemn and said, "Now, my dragon will attack your swordsman."
CiH: 1 Field: Mirage Dragon (if you don't chain Reckless), 3 m/t f/d

Alexa revealed her magic card, "I activate rush recklessly! This increases my swordsmans attack by 700, making him 100 points stronger than your dragon!"
The swordsman waited till the dragon was close to him before slashing, destroying the dragon.
Yumi ended her turn.
"Alright then!" Alexa drew a card and added it to her hand. "First things first! My Silent Swordsman's effect is activated, meaning I can replace him with my silent swordsman level 5!"
The swordsman grew in height and power (Atk: 2300 Def: 1000 Effect: Can't be harmed by your spell cards)
"Next I summon my Gemini Elf! In attack mode!" (Atk: 1900 Def: 900)
"Now both of them will attack you directly! Go!"
(if you activate a trap card or anything I'll still do this afterwards)
"Now I place one card face down and end my turn!"
LP: Alexa: 8000 Yomi: 3800 (ouch!)
Field: Alexa: 2 monsters, one face down magic/trap Yomi: 4? face down magic/trap

Yomi smiled as Silent Swordsman Lv 5 is summoned and said, "Your swordsman will now fall down a hole. A Bottomless Trap Hole to be exact." She then proceeded to activate her trap and see her opponent's monster removed from play.
She did cringe as Gemini Elf's direct attack though. 1900 atk was formidable, but she decided that it wasn't worth it to sacrifice the bulk of her life points to counter.
Yomi then drew her card, and thought about it for a momment before muttering, "Smashing Ground, counters?"

"Actually, yes!" Alexa replied, "I activate dust tornado! Saving my gemini elf from harm! Anything else up your sleeve?"

Yomi laughed, and said, "Well, you just wasted your trap. Since destroy does not mean negate, and it says destroy on Dust Tornado, all you have effectively done is absolutely nothing." She looked at the field, set the last card in her hand in the m/t zone and called it a turn.

Alexa opened her mouth, then closed it again, the opened it again and cursing to herself "Damn, I really am out of practice... when was the last time I played an important duel? Urgh. Note to self, replace dust tornados..."
Alexa drew her card and smiled to herself, that would come in handy later. But for now, lets concentrate on attack. "I summon Dark Blade! In attack mode!" [Atk: 1800 Def: 1500]
[I'll leave it there for now - feel free to counter, I'll be back tomorrow]

Yomi ran through a lot of quick calculations in her head while making her decision as to counter her opponent's summon or not. By Yomi calculations, whatever chance of her winning this duel will evaporate if she doesn't draw the right card next turn. And judging by her own deck distribution and from what she has drawn so far, Yomi doesn't like her chances of pulling that off. She reluctantly activated her Solemn Judgment and said, "Half my life points to negate your summon." Yomi then added quietly to herself, making sure that no one could hear, "I do hope that I don't end up killing myself with Solemn again..."

Alexa was surprised that Yomi sacrificed half her life points just for one monster, but carried on without showing it.
"Alright then, I lay one card face down and end my turn." She called, laying the cards and hoping Yomi wouldn't draw a monster.
